Managing risks for your projects is key to staying ahead of events and circumstances that could negatively impact your project.
An ongoing risk management plan ensures that you will be proactive rather than reactive to outside influences on the project success. With risk management, you have the opportunity to take actions to mitigate or minimize negative impacts.
A good analogy of this is how you drive your car. You plan where you are going, what route you’re going, make sure there is gas in the tank. As you drive, you watch out and anticipate what other drivers are going to do. It becomes instinctive after a while but these are all examples of risk management and mitigating strategies. We can do the same in how we manage projects.
