Introduction

Silver Bay Seafoods is one of the largest seafood processors in Alaska, operating six facilities across Alaska and the West Coast of North America. Founded in 2007, the company processes salmon, herring, squid, and other frozen seafood products for domestic and export markets.

With large-scale, multi-location operations and a complex Capital Expenditure (CapEx) project environment, Silver Bay needed a more efficient and transparent way to manage projects across the organization.

The Challenge

As the company expanded, project management processes struggled to keep pace.

Key challenges included:

  • Disconnected systems and poor data control – Project information was spread across spreadsheets and emails, with no consistent version control or centralized source of truth.

  • Limited visibility and collaboration – Departments lacked transparency, and reporting relied on manual updates and phone calls.

  • Weak budget and financial tracking – Budget oversight, PO allocation, and year-end cost reviews were manual and difficult to manage.

  • No standardized approval process – Project requests and multi-step approvals were inconsistent, limiting leadership visibility and accountability.

BrightWork 365 Solution

Silver Bay implemented BrightWork 365 to centralize and standardize its Capital Expenditure project management processes.

The solution delivered:

  • Centralized Project Database – A single source of truth for all project requests, documentation, and financial tracking.

  • Structured Multi-Step Approvals – Standardized request workflows across departments.

  • Improved Budget Tracking – Ongoing financial oversight with better forecasting and risk visibility.

  • Standardized Reporting – Clear, consistent project dashboards replacing manual updates and phone-based reporting.

  • Cross-Location Collaboration – Seamless information access across multiple facilities.

  • Immediate Portfolio Visibility – Senior leadership gained real-time insight into project pipelines and performance.

"Customization that can accommodate our business needs was a crucial part of choosing the right PPM solution.  With BrightWork 365 being a Microsoft 365 solution, we knew reporting will become easier and increase visibility in all aspects of our projects."

Project teams no longer rely on spreadsheets and scattered email threads. Instead, all project data, approvals, and reporting are managed in one centralized system, supporting more efficient decision-making across the organization.
