I deployed a new site today in our SharePoint Online environment using the free Project Lite template provided by Brightwork earlier this year. In updating the project schedule, new items would get the spinning “working on it” icon in the left column as if it was writing the data to the server. I added three extra tasks in total and the spinning icon stayed on all three entries for a while and never completed. So I exited the page (the browser asked if I wanted to stay or leave, indicating that the transactions were in process) and I chose to leave the page to see what happened. When I loaded the Project Schedule, those three entries were duplicated several times. I wish I could attach a screenshot, but hopefully the description is detailed enough.
Could this be an issue with the Project Lite template from earlier this year? Maybe I need an updated template for SharePoint Online? Or anyone have any other ideas I can try? I need new entries to commit to the schedule and be able to edit existing ones without duplicates occurring or the never-ending spinning icon. I’d like to get this resolved so I can use the template and prove the value of this site methodology.
It’s happening again on that same Schedule List. Added a line item, but it never finished committing the new line. I closed the page and loaded the Schedule again only to find 5 duplicate lines for that one entry. Ugh.
Yes, the out of the box Tasks list works fine within the Free Template site. I created a new test list based on the Tasks template and was able to enter a lot of tasks without any issue. The behavior above appears to be limited to the ProjectTasks list when entering data through Schedule page (/SitePages/Project%20Schedule.aspx). If I use Quick Edit on the ProjectTasks list directly, I don’t seem to have this issue. I have both open right now and the ones entered on the Schedule page are still hanging. Hopefully this provides additional information for troubleshooting!
