Most of our customers used to manage their work and projects on email and Excel...
... and were beginning to use SharePoint, but base SharePoint did not include the structure or the reporting needed for work and project management.
They then moved to pmPoint from BrightWork, a specially designed SharePoint add-on for managing work and projects of different types and sizes.
pmPoint ships with many ready to use templates that cover the main areas of work and project management.
Customers usually start their pmPoint deployment with one of the pmPoint templates to manage single projects - such as this Business Project Manager template … where in this example Team Members can see their up-coming work on the dashboard...
...or can be notified via automated scheduled emails.
Some projects at most of our customer sites will use the Project Schedule list with task dependencies.
This Project Schedule list also includes an optional import / export with Microsoft Project for Project Managers.
All customers use The Project Office template, where Senior Managers get visibility across multiple projects.
In Phase 2 of their deployments many customers then start to use the Work Manager Template, with the ability to accept incoming work requests and dispatch them to where they can be managed.
Some customers will move in phase 3 of their deployments to use the Project Request Manager template, where Portfolio Managers get to control what projects get approved.
The key is that customers decide what templates to use when - and typically start small and grow very quickly.
Importantly all pmPoint templates are customizable without programming - as depicted in this Resource Tracking report.
All customizations can be captured for re-use in the pmPoint Templates Area, allowing our customers to evolve their work and project management practices at a pace that works for them.
