Distributing Reports
The valuable data generated by reports does not have to stay inside pmPoint. You can distribute these reports in a variety of ways.
Sometimes paper is just better. Reporter enables you to printout generated reports for use in meetings and hallway discussions. Also included is a print preview that opens the report by itself in a new browser window – this can be particularly useful if the report has lots of columns and is very wide.
Reports can be emailed on demand and according to a schedule.
Reports include a drop-down menu option that allows the report to be emailed to anyone. You might need to ask a team member why they have so many overdue items. You can email them a report containing their overdue assigned work.
The Reporter Email Scheduler allows you to email a specific report to whoever you want on a scheduled basis, for example you could ensure that all team members receive a copy of their My Work report every Monday morning.
Export to Excel and/or Web Query
All reports include a drop-down menu option that means the report can be instantly opened in Microsoft Excel, with all formatting, grouping and sorting retained. This means you can use Excel to process and format your report data and do things like create pivot tables and graphs. You also have the option of creating a refreshable data connection with Excel.
Export to XML
Reports can be exported to an XML format usable by Microsoft Excel, the SharePoint Data View web part and other applications.
Export to Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
The BrightWork Reporter SQL Server Feed allows you to extract information from pmPoint and/or SharePoint and feed it to a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services database. This enables you to leverage SQL Server’s heavy lifting abilities to process data from hundreds of sites and lists and from other areas of your enterprise.
