The Baltimore County Public Schools system needed to implement a Project Management Office (PMO) for both IT and business projects to support the schools and offices. They needed to be able to assign tasks, create monthly project status reviews, foster collaboration, provide consistent record filing, and provide dashboards for management reference. They decided on pmPoint and chose the hosted version called pmPoint Online with the goal of moving to on-premise once they were up and running. The process has gone very well for Baltimore County Public Schools and they are going to migrate to in-house hosting this year.
The benefits experienced include easy retrieval and accessibility to project files from outside of the office via web access; consistent and secure record keeping of project artifacts in support of an ISO 9001 certification initiative; resource planning and management; having an efficient way that resources can maintain daily tasks; as well as the ability to quickly gauge project progress and status.
